This is a collection of shapes and forms that look similar to buildings or 3D objects. One skill that I used and learned as I created this piece was using a variety of shapes. I started out with squares but then as I went I would add or take away from them. One element that is most emphasized in my work is the use of shape. I created shapes using parallel lines and was able to make them look three dimensional. Using parallel lines and being able to consistently draw them parallel allows the shapes to change how they look and causes them to be more interesting.

This is a group of squares, rectangles and triangles all connected. And in each shape I drew lines at an angle so that it appears to be spiraling as you draw them smaller. It looks as though there are curves yet I did not draw one curved line. I learned that straight lines and precision can create an illusion. Lines were the main focus for this work because I was repetitively drawing lines to create this piece. This skill created something new because it now looks as though the whole piece folds into each other and it also now looks curved. |
